Gary Hirsch: Chief Executive Officer
Gary
Hirsch is Chief Executive of Management by Design, a business
coaching, consulting and training firm serving clients in Tucson,
Arizona and beyond. As a professional certified coach he helps
business clients become more successful, make successful
transitions, overcome challenges and find more enjoyment and meaning
in their work. His clients include CEO’s and managers from
consulting; manufacturing; engineering; medicine; real estate;
design; law; investing and show business and more. He has worked
with clients on five continents and has developed business
partnerships with companies in Europe, Asia, and Eastern Europe and
is a “coach’s coach,” helping other coaches refine their coaching
techniques and build their practices.
Prior to forming Management by
Design he was President and Chief Executive of the Enlightened
Business Institute (EBI), an international coaching, training and
consulting company that at any one time typically served about 50
clients on five continents. From 2002 until the present EBI has been
in the forefront of the movement to bring ethical conduct to
business—not because it is the right thing to do but because acting
ethically, serving others, and caring for our employees, suppliers
and even our competitors is the source of our success. He brings
this philosophy into every one of his ventures. As a matter of
policy he will not turn away a client who can benefit from his
services for inability to pay his full fee.
Mr. Hirsch also enjoyed the success of
having served as Vice President for eight years for firms in
Washington, DC and the San Francisco Bay area, where he provided more
than $20 million in marketing, program management, program design,
fulfillment and other services for a diverse group of clients
including the United States Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National
Laboratory, the Electric Power Research Institute, Southern Company,
Con Edison, the Tennessee Valley Authority and more. As Assistant
Director for a state-level natural resources agency for nine years, he
achieved several “firsts” in the public energy arena through the
design of innovative programs that went on to serve as national
models. His was the first agency to use federal funds to create a
revolving loan program to fund energy efficiency for more than 50
million square feet of government-owned buildings. He then developed
successful legislation to allow government workers to retain a portion
of funds saved by reducing energy costs and when electric utilities
entered the competitive era in the mid-1990’s he led the first project
for which a regulated utility paid a state agency for conserved
electricity.
Over the course of
his extensive career as an executive, Mr. Hirsch has advised
governors, legislators and agency directors on policy issues and has
been recognized for excellence in leadership and sales in every one of
his positions. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in energy policy and
engineering and makes his home in Tucson, Arizona along with his wife
Kandy and their golden retriever Abby.
